Bandung Prison Visitor Smuggles Methamphetamine in Condom Concealed in Rectum

Officers at Banceuy Prison in Bandung, West Java, successfully thwarted the smuggling of 19.14 grammes of methamphetamine hidden in a visitor’s rectum on Monday (8/6/2026). They detained a visitor with the initial F who intended to deliver the drugs to an inmate. This is the second time a smuggling attempt with a similar modus operandi has been foiled. The Head of the Prison Security Unit at Banceuy Prison, Andhika Saputra, stated that officers managed to intercept the 19.14 grammes of methamphetamine brought by visitor F for an inmate. He noted that the drugs were concealed in the visitor’s rectum using a condom. ‘This is perhaps the umpteenth time at Banceuy Prison, through our main entrance search officers and visiting duty officers, that a smuggling attempt has involved hiding contraband in the genitals or rectum, wrapped in a contraceptive condom,’ he said on Monday (8/6/2026). He stated that the prison has reported the incident to the West Java National Narcotics Agency (BNN) for further examination of the suspect. The prison received information indicating the visitor carrying the methamphetamine was a relative of the inmate and had arrived with his biological mother. Andhika said officers became suspicious of the visitor’s behaviour, who appeared restless. Officers discovered a protrusion resembling rubber in the visitor’s rectum, which he initially denied. ‘The individual immediately rushed to put his hand in to push the condom, which was slightly protruding from his backside, back inside. When we examined him earlier, he initially did not admit to carrying anything,’ he said. However, officers managed to check again and found the item wrapped in a condom and black plastic. The inmate who was intended to receive the methamphetamine is serving a seven-year sentence for a narcotics case and has already served two years.
