Bandung prepares draft bylaw to strengthen public health services

The Bandung Regency Government in West Java is preparing a Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on Health Administration as a primary focus for strengthening public health services in the area. Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna stated in Bandung on Sunday that the Raperda is an important instrument to reinforce the health service system to be more equitable, high-quality, and sustainable. “There are three draft regulations being finalised, and one of them, the Raperda on Health Administration, is being prepared to strengthen public health services in Bandung Regency,” he said. According to him, the strengthening of health services in Bandung Regency is currently supported by 135 health facilities spread across 31 sub-districts, comprising 16 hospitals, 62 community health centres (puskesmas), and 57 clinics. The existence of this Raperda is expected to provide legal certainty in the administration of health services and to sustainably improve access and quality of services for the community. The other two Raperdas are the Raperda on Accountability for the Implementation of the 2025 Fiscal Year Regional Budget (APBD) and the Raperda on the Fifth Amendment to Regional Regulation Number 12 of 2016 concerning the Formation and Structure of Regional Apparatuses. “Through more effective and proportional institutional structuring, we hope that bureaucratic performance will become more adaptive and capable of delivering better public services,” he added. He noted that all input and views from DPRD factions will serve as refinement material before the Raperda is enacted into a regional regulation.
