Bandung City (ANTARA) - The Traffic Unit of the Bandung Metropolitan Police is deploying artificial intelligence (AI) technology for Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 to monitor traffic flow during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus.

The Deputy Head of Traffic Management for the Bandung Metropolitan Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Hany Amelia, stated that monitoring is conducted via the Smart City Road Safety Policing system, which forms part of the modernisation developed by the National Police Traffic Corps.

“This is to support security, safety, order, and smooth traffic during the Eid exodus season,” Hany said in Bandung on Friday.

According to her, 200 surveillance cameras (CCTV) have been installed at various strategic points in Bandung City. Through this technology, officers can monitor on-site traffic conditions directly.

She explained that the system can quickly detect vehicle density, potential congestion, and traffic disruptions, allowing them to be handled promptly by officers.

She added that public movement at points such as tourist areas and vital objects can also be monitored, especially during spikes in activity over the Eid holiday.

“The system is also enhanced with a digital geospatial map that enables officers to view traffic conditions comprehensively across various regions,” she said.

Hany noted that with these features, officers can predict potential density, map accident-prone spots, and monitor road disruptions more accurately.

“Through this system, we can monitor traffic conditions directly. So if there is density or disruption, it can be responded to immediately,” she said.
