Bandung no longer friendly
Bandung no longer friendly
From Suara Karya
Bandung in the dry season is really an unpleasant city. The sweltering sun is uncomfortable. The city is no longer the friendly cool city in the mountains.
There is no coolness left in Bandung. This is due to the dwindling number of greenbelt areas and the growing number of buildings.
The erstwhile famous Dago street, now Jl. Juanda, is unrecognizable. Not so long ago, in the early 1980s, it was lined with trees casting their shade on the street. The houses lining both sides of the street were mostly for residential purposes. Now many of the buildings are used for commerce.
I do not know how Jl. Juanda is actually categorized, residential or commercial?
Bandung lacks clean water in the dry season, while it is threatened by floods in the rainy season. In the wet season, rain is often accompanied by strong winds and thunder. According to a geologist, this reflects the unbalanced ecosystem in the area.
