Bandung Mayor Reveals Reason for Delayed Demolition of Teras Cihampelas, Hands Over to West Java Provincial Government
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has revealed that the handling of Teras Cihampelas and Jalan Cihampelas has been handed over to the West Java Provincial Government. This is because Jalan Cihampelas and Teras Cihampelas are now under the authority of the West Java Provincial Government. “Jalan Cihampelas has become a provincial road, as part of easing administration for the disbursement of the budget from the province,” he said on Monday (20/7/2026). He cited the example of the road repair budget for Jalan Setiabudi from the West Java Provincial Government, which has been disbursed and repairs carried out. However, the section from Jalan Setiabudi down to Jalan Cihampelas is a city road, and the Bandung City Government’s budget has not yet been allocated for repairs there. “Our schedule is still for the lower, southern part. So to make it easier, Mr. Dedi said, ‘Mr. Mayor, how about if the management is handed over to the provincial government,’” he said, quoting West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. He stated that the authority for the road was given to the West Java Provincial Government to ensure the budget is disbursed quickly. Farhan also agreed that Jalan Cihampelas be handed over to the West Java Provincial Government, including Teras Cihampelas. “Yes, that’s right. Including Teras Cihampelas,” he said.
