Bandung Mayor Probes Alleged Civil Servant Involvement in Tree Felling, Threatens Sanctions

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has ordered an investigation into the alleged involvement of city civil servants (ASN) in the tree felling case on Jalan LLRE Martadinata (Jalan Riau). Farhan has instructed the City Secretary and the Inspectorate to thoroughly examine the possibility that Bandung City Government employees were involved.

“Of course, there is a question of whether any civil servants were involved. That is why I have tasked the City Secretary and the Inspectorate to investigate the possibility of Bandung City Government ASN involvement,” Farhan said on Monday (3/8/2026).

Farhan previously hinted at suspicions regarding parties backing the tree felling incident and is now tracing the case to ensure it becomes clear. He confirmed that strict sanctions will be prepared for any violations. “If it is proven that they were involved, they will be subject to sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations,” he stated.
