Bandung — Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has predicted that approximately 700,000 tourists will visit Bandung during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period in 2026.

Farhan noted that this figure would be lower than the peak traffic witnessed during the New Year holiday, as the movement of people during Eid is dispersed across various exodus routes to different regions.

“During the New Year period, there is typically no outbound exodus as residents leave the city, so most holidays are spent in Bandung. During Eid, the traffic disperses along the North Coast route, Garut, Tasikmalaya, and Central Java routes,” Farhan said in Bandung on Monday.

Based on evaluations from previous years, he estimated that the influx of people entering Bandung during the Eid al-Fitr holiday would reach 600,000 to 700,000 individuals.

He identified several areas predicted to experience congestion, including central Bandung, the Ciwidey tourism area, and Lembang.

“Therefore, cross-sector coordination is deemed crucial, particularly in managing traffic flow and securing strategic areas,” he said.

“We will conduct further identification of vulnerable points. In principle, Bandung City is prepared and on alert,” he added.
