Bandung City Government has requested the Telecommunications Network Operators Association (Apjatel) to immediately complete utility excavation work being conducted on several road sections throughout Bandung City.

Bandung City Government has set a deadline of 12 March 2026 for the association to complete the work.

“We are requesting that state-owned enterprise Telkom and Apjatel accelerate the work process and restore the condition of the pavements that have been excavated. I also ask that Apjatel inform the public which specific points have been completed and which points still need to be tidied,” stated Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan firmly.

According to him, the development of telecommunications network infrastructure is indeed important to support public needs. However, the work process must be conducted in an orderly manner whilst considering public comfort and safety.

“The City Government certainly supports infrastructure improvements, including telecommunications networks. However, fieldwork must be managed properly. We are requesting that all excavation work be completed no later than 12 March so that it does not continue to disrupt public activities,” he said.

Farhan noted that allowing excavations to remain incomplete for too long can cause various negative impacts, ranging from traffic congestion to potential hazards for pedestrians due to numerous excavations on pavements. Therefore, coordination between network service providers and Bandung City Government is essential so that each utility project can be carried out in a planned manner and does not cause public complaints.

“The most important thing is how each project can be completed on time, then the pavement condition is restored to its original state, so that the public can resume their activities comfortably and safely,” he stressed.

Farhan hopes that all parties involved can comply with the deadline that has been set. In this way, infrastructure development can continue whilst maintaining public comfort.

“Once again, this is for the comfort of road and pavement users,” he emphasised.
