Bandung Mayor Farhan's Condition Gradually Improves

The Bandung City Government has confirmed that the health condition of Mayor Muhammad Farhan is gradually improving after he was rushed to hospital due to physical exhaustion. City Secretary Iskandar Zulkarnain stated on Saturday that the mayor is still unable to attend scheduled events, such as the Asia Africa Festival, as he remains under intensive medical care. “Alhamdulillah, his condition has improved. However, he still needs to undergo further medical examinations,” he said, adding that he could not yet provide more detailed information regarding the mayor’s health. Iskandar noted that a packed schedule in recent days likely contributed to the mayor’s physical decline. The mayor had been carrying out activities from early morning until late at night, including directly monitoring enforcement and cleanliness operations across Bandung. He also travelled to Jakarta to pay his respects at the funeral of House of Representatives member Rachmat Gobel before returning to continue his duties in Bandung. “His schedule was very tight. From dawn, sometimes even earlier, he was already out monitoring various activities. Then he went to Jakarta and came back to Bandung to continue his agenda. It is likely that his physical condition became less fit,” he explained. Iskandar appealed for prayers from the public for the mayor’s swift recovery. “We ask for prayers from all the people of Bandung City so that he may be granted healing and health, allowing him to resume his duties,” he added. Farhan was taken to hospital on Friday afternoon after experiencing a health issue in his office at Bandung City Hall. The incident occurred as the lobby was busy with preparations for the Asia Africa Festival 2026 Gala Dinner. An ambulance from RSUD Bandung Kiwari arrived at the scene, and medical personnel were seen rushing to the mayor’s office. Approximately 30 minutes later, Farhan was evacuated on a stretcher. He appeared pale and was receiving oxygen and an intravenous drip as he was transferred to the ambulance for medical treatment.
