Bandung Mayor Farhan's Condition Gradually Improves
The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has confirmed that the health of Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan is gradually improving after he was rushed to hospital due to a physical decline. Nevertheless, the city’s top official must still undergo further intensive medical examinations.
Regional Secretary of Bandung City, Iskandar Zulkarnain, stated on Saturday (11/7) that the mayor was unable to attend the current agenda, the Asia Africa Festival, as he remained under the care of a medical team.
“Thank God, his condition has improved. However, he still needs to undergo further examinations,” he said. “But I am not yet able to convey more detailed information regarding the mayor’s health condition,” he explained.
According to Iskandar, the mayor’s密集 activities over recent days are believed to have affected his physical condition. His schedule ran from the early hours until late at night, including directly monitoring various enforcement and cleanliness operations across Bandung.
In addition, the mayor also travelled to Jakarta to attend condolences for the passing of Member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rachmat Gobel, before returning to resume his activities in Bandung.
“He has an extremely packed schedule. From dawn, or sometimes even from the early hours, he goes down to monitor various activities. Then he went to Jakarta and returned again to Bandung to continue his agenda. His physical condition likely became less than fit,” he noted.
Iskandar also asked the public to pray for the mayor’s swift recovery so he can resume his duties as usual. “We ask for prayers from all the people of Bandung City so that he may be granted healing and health, allowing him to carry out his duties again,” he continued.
As previously reported, Farhan was rushed to hospital on Friday (10/7) afternoon after suffering a health disturbance while in his office at Bandung City Hall. The incident occurred when Farhan was scheduled to attend an agenda at the Bandung City Council (DPRD) building.
At around 15:30 WIB, the lobby of City Hall was busy with preparations for the Asia Africa Festival (AAF) 2026 Gala Dinner, to be held at City Hall Plaza. Amid these activities, a Bandung Kiwari Regional Hospital ambulance entered the City Hall lobby area.
Shortly afterwards, a number of medical personnel were seen rushing towards the Bandung Mayor’s office. Around 30 minutes later, Farhan was evacuated from the Mayor’s Middle Room on a stretcher towards the waiting ambulance.
Farhan appeared to be lying down with his eyes closed and his face looked pale. During the evacuation, he was wearing a white T-shirt, had an intravenous drip attached to his arm, and was given oxygen assistance during the transfer to the ambulance before being taken to hospital for medical treatment.
