Bandung Mayor Farhan Returns to Office After Health Scare Last Week

Bandung Mayor M Farhan returned to his office at Bandung City Hall on Friday (13/7) after his health suddenly declined late last week, requiring him to be transported by ambulance from the city hall to the hospital. Farhan stated he underwent two days of intensive care in hospital for gastritis and vertigo, and his condition has since improved. “Alhamdulillah, it turned out I was indeed unwell. After lab tests, there was a digestive infection that triggered gastritis, and the gastritis triggered the vertigo, which is why I had to be carried out,” Farhan said in Bandung on Monday (13/7). Vertigo is a sensation of dizziness where the patient feels that they or their surroundings are spinning or floating. “With vertigo, you cannot do anything; the eyeballs keep moving so everything feels like it is spinning. I had no choice but to be carried,” the NasDem politician added. Farhan admitted that besides resting, he spent the two days watching the 2026 World Cup qualifiers broadcast on national television. He said he was supporting Norway, but the team featuring Erling Haaland lost to England over the weekend, failing to advance to the semi-finals. “I rested completely for two days over the weekend, only allowed to watch football. It is a shame Norway lost. But I am feeling better now, thank you for the prayers,” he said. Although he has returned to work and is serving the residents of Bandung, Farhan noted that his health progress is still being monitored by a doctor. “I am still under observation, so my activities cannot stray too far from the pendopo yet,” he said.
