Bandung Mayor Farhan Ready to Be Criticised for the City's Progress

Bandung – Mayor Muhammad Farhan says he has continued to strengthen basic services for residents during his first year in office and for the years ahead. He notes that one year is not a long time to resolve the city’s complex problems.

‘There is not a long time to finish all of the city’s complex problems, but it is enough to learn, listen and determine the direction,’ Farhan said on Thursday (5 March 2026).

In the past year, he said he has received a great deal of hope, criticism and disappointment from the public, both directly and on social media. He said public expectations of him are very high.

‘These all I accept as part of a living city democracy. We are committed to ensuring that space for residents to express their opinions, including criticism, remains open,’ he added.
