BANDUNG: About 30 residential complexes in the city have voluntarily changed their names in compliance with a government appeal that Indonesian, as opposed to foreign names, be used.
"The other residential estates will follow soon," said H. Sanusi, the second chairman of the West Java branch of Real Estate Indonesia, an association of property developers.
Among the changes effected on Monday were: Taman Rahayu, which was previously called Rahayu Garden, Permata Cimahi, previously Permata Regency and Griya Timur Indah, previously Green Land, Antara reported.
Asked if the real estate association would also use Indonesian terms, Sanusi said that decision lay with head office.
"We are already seeking a name change," he said.(anr)
