Bandung (ANTARA) - The Bandung Municipal Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmatan), West Java, has completed the handling of three collapsed billboards that fell and struck four vehicles on Jalan Buahbatu.

Head of Damkarmatan Bandung, Soni Bakhtiyar, stated that the incidents were caused by adverse weather conditions, including rain and strong winds that hit the area on Saturday (28/3) afternoon.

“Several reports of collapsed billboards received through the 113 hotline have been handled. The average response time is around seven minutes, while on-site handling takes about one hour,” Soni said when contacted in Bandung on Saturday.

He explained that the billboard collapses occurred on Jalan Terusan Buahbatu. Meanwhile, fallen trees were also reported on Jalan Buahbatu in front of Almaz and on Jalan Guntursari Wetan, Lengkong sub-district.

“For the fallen trees, there were two locations in Lengkong sub-district, all of which have been fully handled,” he said.

Soni advised the public to increase vigilance against potential disasters in their surroundings, given the changing weather conditions.

He added that during the dry season, residents are asked not to burn grass or waste on vacant land as it could trigger fires.

“Meanwhile, during the rainy season accompanied by strong winds, residents are urged to be wary of old or fragile trees that could fall,” he said.

Soni also requested that the public immediately report any trees at risk of falling to the relevant authorities and avoid parking vehicles under trees that are prone to collapse.
