Bandung False Imprisonment Victim's Family and Witnesses Request LPSK Protection

The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has granted emergency protection to a woman, identified as YTR, who was allegedly subjected to severe abuse and held captive for approximately three years in Bandung Regency, West Java. The victim was last known to be living with the perpetrator in a rented room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. LPSK Deputy Chairperson Sri Suparyati stated that five applications for protection have been submitted to the agency. These applications came from the victim, two members of the victim’s family, and two witnesses with knowledge of the case currently being handled. Through her family, the victim has requested several forms of protection and services from the LPSK, including the fulfilment of procedural rights during the legal process, legal assistance, regular medical care, psychological support, and restitution. ‘The application was submitted as part of efforts to ensure the victim gains access to justice and optimal recovery from the impact of the crime she experienced,’ Sri said on Sunday. Meanwhile, two family members of the victim, who are acting as complainants and have been questioned by the police, have also applied for services from the LPSK. The services requested include the fulfilment of procedural rights and psychosocial support. ‘This support is considered important to aid the recovery process of the family, who have also been affected by the incident, while ensuring their rights are fulfilled in accordance with applicable regulations,’ Sri stated. Furthermore, the two witnesses have requested monitoring services and the fulfilment of procedural rights in the form of accompaniment during the legal process. This support is provided to ensure the witnesses can give their testimony safely, free from pressure, and to support the smooth enforcement of the law.
