Bandung Education Office Ensures Learning Rights of SDN 026 Bojongloa Students Remain Guaranteed

The Bandung City Education Office has confirmed that the learning process for students at SDN 026 Bojongloa remains a top priority, following a brief incident where the school gate was padlocked by heirs on Thursday morning, 6 August 2026.

Head of the Bandung City Education Office, Asep Saeful Gufron, received a report of the padlocking at around 6:00 a.m. WIB. In response, he immediately dispatched staff to coordinate and communicate with the heirs. Thanks to this coordination, the gate was reopened by the heirs around 6:30 a.m. WIB, allowing school activities to resume.

‘We understand the concerns of parents and the community regarding this incident. Our primary concern is ensuring that children can continue to receive education safely and comfortably,’ Asep said.

Asep explained that the land ownership dispute for SDN 026 Bojongloa has been subject to a court ruling in favour of the heirs. The Bandung City Government respects all legal processes that have taken place. Since the ruling became legally binding, the city government, through the Education Office, has maintained good communication with the heirs.

‘At that time, the Bandung City Government hoped that the heirs would not padlock the gate so that the teaching and learning process would not be disrupted and to maintain a conducive environment,’ he explained.

As a commitment to ensuring the continuity of education, the city government has purchased approximately 4,000 square metres of land in Cibaduyut Kidul Urban Village, Bojongloa Kidul District, for the relocation of SDN 026 Bojongloa. ‘The land was purchased in 2025, and the Bandung City Government has prepared a budget for the construction of the school building in 2026,’ he stated.

However, the construction process has encountered obstacles due to opposition from some residents near the development site. The Education Office, along with district officials and related parties, continues to take a persuasive approach with various stakeholders so that the construction of the relocation school can be carried out without hindrance.

‘The new location is larger than the current SDN 026 Bojongloa site, considering that Bojongloa Kidul District has a fairly high number of primary school-age children,’ he explained. Data shows that in 2027, there will be 1,469 children needing to transition to primary education, but the available capacity is only 1,154 places across both state and private schools in the district. This results in a shortfall of approximately 300 places, forcing state schools to operate a double-shift system.

Therefore, the Bandung City Government is seeking the support, prayers, and participation of the entire community so that the construction of the SDN 026 Bojongloa relocation school can be carried out according to plan.
