The new student admission system (SPMB) in Bandung has entered its first phase, covering affirmation and achievement pathways. The Bandung City Education Agency (Disdik) has prepared complaint channels to help parents avoid confusion when registering their children. As of Thursday (11/6/2026), 17,843 prospective students had registered for the Bandung City SPMB. Seven information service channels have been set up, including an integrated helpdesk, WhatsApp service, social media, chatbox, and consultation services at the district level. “We deliberately expanded the service channels so that the public can access information more easily and to minimise miscommunication during the SPMB process. So when there are obstacles, the public has a place to ask questions and get solutions,” said Head of the Bandung City Education Agency, Asep Saeful Gufron, on Friday (12/6). Throughout the SPMB implementation, 518 consultations were handled by the Education Agency, 124 consultations through the Social Agency, and 895 services related to population administration through the Population and Civil Registration Agency (Disdukcapil). Additionally, the resolution rate for complaints submitted through official channels has reached approximately 71 per cent. “The most important thing is that the public feels served and receives correct information. We want to ensure every student has an equal opportunity to participate in the SPMB process properly,” he concluded. It was previously reported that parents of students crowded the West Java Education Agency office to complain about various issues with the 2026 Prospective Student Mapping (PCMB). The PCMB turmoil resulted in the removal of the Head of the Education Information and Communication Technology Technical Implementation Unit (Tikomdik) of the West Java Education Agency, Suhendar. The final day of PCMB in the 2026 West Java SPMB was marked by a wave of public complaints. Since Monday afternoon (8/6/2026), dozens of parents sought clarity regarding various technical issues in the registration process. The complaints ranged from unverified student accounts to confusion among participants who failed the Maung School selection and had to continue registration through the regular pathway.
