Bandung DKPP prepares E-Selamat app to ensure safe sacrificial offerings
Bandung City, West Java (ANTARA) - The Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP) of Bandung City, West Java, has prepared the E-Selamat (Healthy, Worthy, More Peaceful) app to ensure that the public can perform sacrificial offerings safely.
Head of DKPP Bandung City, Gin Gin Ginanjar, stated that with this app, the public can scan the barcode printed on the sticker attached to the body of the sacrificial animal that has been inspected.
“From the scan results, residents no longer need to doubt when selecting sacrificial animals. All inspection results can be accessed directly via mobile phones,” he said in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday.
Gin Gin explained that the inspections are conducted in two stages.
First, ante-mortem inspection, which is a physical examination of the animal while still alive to ensure it is healthy, of sufficient age, and not defective according to syariah.
Second, post-mortem inspection, which is an examination of the internal organs after the animal is slaughtered to detect any diseases that may not have been visible during the initial examination.
“From this system, the public can view complete health inspection data for the animal, from photos of the animal to the results of its eligibility as a sacrificial animal,” he said.
Gin Gin stated that based on data from the Ministry of Health, 58% of diseases transmissible to humans originate from animals.
Therefore, he continued, the oversight of sacrificial animals is not merely an annual routine but part of efforts to maintain food security and the health of city residents.
He added that this innovation is also implemented so that the sacrificial animal slaughtering process meets syariah, health, and food safety requirements, allowing the public to consume halal, safe, and guaranteed healthy meat.
“We hope the public can perform the sacrificial worship with a sense of safety, comfort, and peace because the chosen animal has been confirmed to be healthy and eligible,” said Gin Gin.
