The Bandung District Attorney’s Office (Kejari) has officially halted the investigation process against the Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, and a member of the Bandung City DPRD, Rendiana Awangga. This decision was marked by the issuance of the Order for the Termination of Investigation (SP3), which was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

This legal step automatically nullifies the suspect status previously held by both politicians over the last six months. For context, Erwin (a PKB politician) and Rendiana Awangga were named suspects on 9 December 2025 following allegations of abuse of power in the arrangement of projects within the Bandung City Government environment.

The Head of the Bandung District Attorney’s Office, Abun Hasbulloh Syambas, explained that based on the results of the exposé and in-depth material examination, the investigative team found no evidence of actual fund flows or elements of corruption that met the requirements for prosecution.

“We have examined 89 witnesses and 3 experts, as well as examined documentary and electronic evidence. However, as of now, the case does not meet the elements of a corruption crime,” Abun stated during a press conference in Bandung.

The District Attorney’s Office emphasised that the investigation and inquiry processes were conducted with utmost caution. Abun also denied any political motives behind the issuance of the SP3, noting that Erwin is an active political figure.

Previously, both individuals were alleged to have conspired to manipulate tender winners across several Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD) within the Bandung City Government. However, the lack of evidence regarding fund flows and concrete facts of abuse of power led investigators to terminate the case in the interest of legal justice.

“For the sake of legal certainty, this case is being terminated. However, it is noted that if witnesses or other evidence supporting the alleged criminal act are found in the future, we will reopen the case,” Abun asserted.
