REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - The Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, expressed his gratitude that the case he was facing has been dropped (SP3) by the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday, May 3, 2026. He believes the prosecutors conducted an objective investigation.

As is known, Erwin and Bandung City DPRD member Rendiana Awangga were named suspects in a corruption case within the Bandung City Government in December 2025 by the then-Head of the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office, Irfan Wibowo. However, after six months, the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office, led by Abun Hasbuloh Sambas, dropped the case.

“I would like to thank the prosecutors for their objective work and adherence to legal principles. I would like to thank the Head of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Head of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, and the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence. I am happy with this decision,” he said when met in Bandung on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

During his status as a suspect and while not in detention, he said he continued to carry out religious lectures and lead Tarawih prayers. In addition, he also helped when there were problems in the community, although this was not publicized on social media.

“Alhamdulillah, God helped me,” he said.

He said he continues to follow the developments in the City of Bandung and the problems it faces. Erwin said he will start his official activities next Monday and will coordinate again with the Mayor of Bandung.

“I would like to try to discuss what my role is in helping to solve problems in the City of Bandung,” he said.

He said that today he participated in a Tablig Akbar (grand religious lecture) and visited several Islamic boarding schools. Regarding the restoration of his reputation, he said he did not mind it.

“I don’t have a reputation because, for me, everything is arranged by God. So I believe that everything is with God’s permission. Everything is with God’s permission,” he said.

He believes that the decision of the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office to drop the investigation must have been made after a thorough review.
