Bandung Crime Hotspot: Rancaekek Resident Stabbed While Waiting for Parent at Hospital
A Rancaekek resident named Suhendar was stabbed by unknown assailants while waiting for his parent’s treatment at Al Islam Hospital in Bandung. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 31 May 2026, outside Al Islam Hospital in Bandung. Rancasari police chief Kompol Herman Junaedi explained that the victim had stepped outside the hospital grounds to smoke while waiting for his parent, who was a patient. While sitting and checking his mobile phone, he was approached by two suspects on a motorcycle. ‘One of the suspects dismounted and suddenly slashed the victim with a machete,’ Herman said on Monday, 1 June 2026. Herman added that the attack caused the victim to fall into a ditch less than two metres deep. The victim sustained multiple lacerations from the sharp weapon, including a cut on the lower left side of his neck, a wound above the elbow on his arm, and a cut on his left wrist. ‘After carrying out the attack, the suspects fled immediately. The motive for the stabbing remains unknown,’ Herman said. The case is currently under police investigation, with officers hunting for unidentified suspects. Authorities have gathered witness statements and are reviewing CCTV footage around the scene to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive.
