A member of the Bandung City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) has urged micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to take full advantage of opportunities presented by the digital era. Indri Rindani, who serves on Commission II overseeing the economy, emphasised that strengthening the MSME and creative economy sectors requires collaboration, networking, and supportive policies to build a resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem amid rapid digital transformation. Speaking at a seminar at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung on Friday (12/6/2026), she stated that the development of the creative economy cannot be done in isolation. “Bandung has great potential as a creative city. This potential must be continuously encouraged through policies that favour MSMEs and creative industry players so they can grow and provide a broader economic impact,” Indri said. Drawing on her nearly two decades of experience as an MSME entrepreneur, she acknowledged the challenges faced by business actors, from capital issues to market access. She noted that the Bandung City Government has introduced various programmes, including licensing facilitation, business mentoring, and promotional support through local, national, and international exhibitions. Indri stressed that regional economic strengthening cannot rely solely on local government fiscal capacity, urging active communication and networking with the central government to access ministerial programmes. She also encouraged young people and women to build economic independence, highlighting the strategic role women play in family and regional economic development.
