Bandung City Officially Appoints PT Faunaland Ancol as Bandung Zoo Operator
The Bandung city government has officially appointed PT Faunaland Ancol as the new operator of Bandung Zoo after a competitive tendering process. The selection was carried out in an open, professional, and accountable manner.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan commended the selection committee for executing every stage of the tender meticulously and professionally. He also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Forestry for providing support, guidance, and attention to Bandung Zoo.
“We extend our appreciation to the selection committee, which has worked professionally and with great care. We also thank the Ministry of Forestry for its ongoing support and guidance, ensuring this process ran smoothly while keeping the conservation function as the top priority,” he said in an official statement on Wednesday.
During the selection process, the city government prioritised conservation functions, animal welfare, and public interest for the management of Bandung Zoo. The mayor expressed hope that the new operator would deliver improved and more responsible management standards.
The mayor stated that a transition period would begin immediately to prepare for the area’s revitalisation, the strengthening of conservation functions, and the enhancement of animal welfare, alongside preparations for the zoo’s reopening to the public. He noted that the selected operator is required to pay an initial contribution of IDR 4.3 billion.
