Bandung City Government's Emergency Services Terrorised by 200 Prank Callers
This has been an issue over the past 2-3 months, with prank calls to 119 from mischievous members of the public. When called, and picked up by us, there is no voice. If there is a voice, it’s unclear chatter. Or if there is a voice, it’s unexplained giggling,” said the Head of the Public Safety Center (PSC) of the Bandung City Health Department, Eka Anugrah, as reported by detikJabar on Thursday (7/5/2026). Ironically, prank calls in April last reached around 200. Eka asked the public to be more prudent in accessing emergency services because it has the potential to hinder assistance to residents who truly need it. “Last month in April, I recorded around 200 prank calls. Hopefully this can convey to the public to be more prudent in accessing emergency services,” he revealed. “Whether it’s the 119 ambulance service or the 112 service. Because if this service is used for pranks, it’s a pity that at the same time there is an emergency case that will be delayed,” he concluded.
