Bandung – The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, has stated that he will soon appoint a selection team for the management of the Bandung Zoo. Subsequently, the team will invite interested third parties to manage the Bandung Zoo.

“Yes, we will soon announce the third-party management cooperation for utilisation. Why must we invite third parties? It is in accordance with the legal fatwa issued by the High Prosecutor’s Office,” said M Farhan when met at the inauguration of the Cengbeng monument at the Cikadut Public Cemetery, Sunday (29/3/2026).

He explained that the first step to be taken is to determine the selection team for the Bandung Zoo management. Next, Farhan said the team will invite third parties interested in managing the Bandung Zoo.

“Later (the selection stages) will be conveyed by the selection team. I am only determining who the selection team will be. It will be determined tomorrow,” he said.

In addition, his side will endeavour to prevent the transmission of viruses causing various animal diseases following the death of two Bengal tiger cubs. He mentioned that transmission can occur between animals, from animals to humans, and vice versa.

“Preventing the transmission of viruses causing various diseases,” he said.

As is known, the Bandung City Government sealed the Bandung Zoo after the conservation institution permit of the Tamansari Wildlife Foundation was revoked by the Ministry of Forestry. Subsequently, during the transitional management period, all animals are cared for by the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA Jabar), the Ministry of Forestry, and the Bandung City Government. To date, visitors cannot visit the Bandung Zoo, including during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah moment.
