Bandung City Government to Regulate Padel Court Operating Hours Following Noise Complaints

The Bandung City Government is preparing stricter regulations regarding the operating hours of padel courts following complaints from residents about noise disturbances caused by the sport’s activities at night. Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the regulation is necessary to provide a sense of justice for all parties, both business operators and the communities living around the business locations. “There are currently no regulations on operating hours. But we will create stricter rules, and the most important thing is that these regulations can be enforced and monitored,” said Farhan in Bandung on Monday (3/8/2026). Farhan assessed that padel court managers must have a greater sense of social responsibility because most of these businesses are located in residential areas. He stressed that business owners cannot simply rely on fulfilling legal and licensing aspects, but must also build good communication with local residents to prevent social conflicts. “So now I am putting pressure on business owners. Just because the legal and formal requirements are settled, doesn’t mean the matter is finished. It is not,” he asserted. Previously, a resident using the social media account @ombenben shared a video showing the sound of shouting from a padel court area penetrating into a house until 11 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The resident reported that the padel court on Jalan Surya Sumantri had been operating until late at night for months, causing noise that severely disturbed the comfort of nearby residents. “It’s almost 11 p.m. and they are still shouting at the padel court, as if no one is sleeping next door. I’ve reported this to the city government twice. They haven’t listened at all,” the account wrote.
