Bandung City Government to Regulate Padel Court Operating Hours Following Noise Complaints

The Bandung City Government in West Java is preparing stricter regulations regarding the operating hours of padel courts following complaints from residents about noise disturbances from nighttime activities. “Currently, there are no regulations on operating hours. But we will create stricter rules, and the most important thing is that these regulations can be enforced and monitored,” said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan on Monday. He stated that the regulation is necessary to provide a sense of justice for all parties, both business operators and the communities living around the venues. He stressed that business owners must not only fulfil legal and licensing aspects but also build good communication with local residents to prevent social conflict. “So now I am putting pressure on business owners. Don’t think that just because the legal formalities are settled, the matter is over. It is not,” he said. A resident reported that a padel court on Jalan Surya Sumantri had been operating until late at night, causing noise that had disturbed the surrounding residents for months. “It is almost 11 p.m. and they are still shouting on the padel court, as if no one is sleeping next door. I have reported this twice to the city government. They haven’t listened to the city government,” the account wrote.
