BANDUNG — The Bandung City Government will soon announce the winner of the Bandung Zoo auction in early June 2026. Three serious bidders have participated in the selection process: Faunaland, Taman Safari Indonesia, and Gembiraloka.

“Bandung Zoo’s winner will be announced soon, Insha’Allah. I have discussed this with the Ministry of Forestry,” said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan during Eid al-Adha prayers at Al Ukhuwah Mosque on Wednesday (27 May 2026).

He stated that the Ministry of Forestry has evaluated the three bidders, and the city government is awaiting their decision on which conservation agency will receive the permit.

“Insha’Allah, on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd June, I will receive confirmation from the Ministry of Forestry regarding the definitive winner and the conservation agency granted the permit,” he added.

Farhan explained that a re-auction was necessary because the three bidders had to renegotiate and revise their tender documents. He noted that document revisions require a new auction process.

“The three strong candidates are Gembiraloka, Faunaland, and Taman Safari,” he said.

The Bandung Zoo case began with the closure of the facility at the end of 2025, when visitor activities ceased and operations halted.

This situation reportedly led to animal health issues, culminating in the deaths of two Bengal tiger cubs due to a virus.
