Bandung City — The Bandung City Government has tightened supervision of warehouses storing nine essential commodities (sembako) to prevent hoarding practices and maintain price stability ahead of Eid 2026.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that this measure is being taken to maintain the stability of essential commodity prices so they remain affordable for the community.

“What is most important to us is ensuring that distribution and the supply chain are not disrupted,” Farhan said in Bandung on Tuesday.

According to Farhan, the city government, together with police officers and Perum Bulog (the state-owned logistics company), is conducting surveillance of essential commodity storage warehouses to ensure hoarding does not occur.

He added that the city government already possesses a list of official warehouses along with data on the stockpiles of essential commodities stored within them. If storage quantities exceeding reasonable limits are discovered, the government will immediately take action.

“We already have a list of official warehouses and their stocks. If anything exceeds what is reasonable, we will immediately take action to prevent hoarding and keep prices within reasonable reach,” Farhan said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Bandung Police, Anton, stated that his unit continues to monitor the availability and prices of essential commodities at several traditional markets.

“We are constantly watching and checking in the field. If there are indeed matters that require our intervention, we will go to the field together,” he said.
