The Bandung City Government is accelerating road infrastructure improvements with a target to complete all works by the end of this year. A budget of Rp300 billion has been prepared to rehabilitate dozens of road sections to enhance residents’ mobility comfort.

This was stated by Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan in Bandung on Thursday (2/4).

“Road repairs and others amounting to Rp300 billion this year must be completed. We have Rp300 billion to repair roads in Bandung City,” he said.

He detailed that there are at least 17 road sections included in this year’s repair list. The project implementation process is scheduled to begin this week.

Farhan expressed apologies to the public for potential traffic disruptions that will arise during the repair period.

“I deeply apologise to all residents; there will be a lot of congestion and excavations on both sides of the roads. But the target is that by December, all these works will be finished,” he emphasised.

Furthermore, he explained that this acceleration is a realisation of the government’s promise in responding to the high public aspirations regarding infrastructure.

Farhan set a unique quality standard for the repairs, taking the perspective of the most vulnerable road users.

According to him, comfort for runners and cyclists becomes the main benchmark for the success of the road repairs. If these two groups already feel comfortable, then motor vehicle users are certain to experience the same impact.

“The benchmark is like this: if cyclists and runners no longer complain, it means two-wheeled and car users won’t complain either. That’s our motivation to give the best for Bandung City,” he said.
