Bandung City Government Targets Completion of Bandung Zoo Management Tender by End of May
Bandung City (ANTARA) - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot), West Java, is targeting the completion of the tender process for a new manager of Bandung Zoo by the end of May this year. “So on 29 May, we will already have a new manager,” said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan in a statement received in Bandung on Tuesday. Farhan explained that the selection process is still ongoing and has not yet reached the stage of determining the winner. According to him, the parties participating in the tender are still in the eligibility evaluation stage, so it cannot yet be confirmed who will be appointed as the manager. Nevertheless, he assured that the entire selection process is being conducted transparently, and the final decision rests entirely with the tender committee. “That means this is not a failure, but they simply haven’t passed the selection stage yet. We cannot simplify this process because it involves many important aspects,” Farhan stated. He added that the government is also extending the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) regarding animal handling and the sustainability of zoo operations. He revealed that if no manager meets the requirements by the specified deadline, the management of the zoo could potentially be taken over by the central government. “If it fails, everything could be taken over by the central government. Of course, we want the region to still have a role,” said Bandung Mayor Farhan.
