Bandung City (ANTARA) - The Bandung City Government in West Java targets 4,600 residents to participate in a labour-intensive programme as an effort to broaden employment opportunities and assist the community’s economy, to be implemented at 92 locations.

Head of the Bandung City Manpower Agency, Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, said the labour-intensive programme is one strategy to open temporary job opportunities for residents who do not yet have employment.

“The aim is to increase employment opportunities, empower unemployed residents and provide income, as well as foster concern for the environment,” Yayan stated in Bandung on Monday.

Yayan explained that the scope of this programme continues to increase each year. In 2023, the programme targeted 1,840 people at 46 locations, then increased in 2024 to 4,450 people at 89 locations.

According to him, the labour-intensive activities not only focus on providing jobs but also encourage community empowerment in organising the surrounding environment.

“This programme is open to Bandung City ID card holders aged 17 to 50 years, both disabled and non-disabled, with priority for those who are unemployed,” he said.

Participants receive meal facilities, work equipment, incentives, and protection through BPJS Health and Employment.

Through this programme, the Bandung City Government hopes to improve community welfare while encouraging resident participation in maintaining the environment.
