Bandung City Government Summons Padel Court Operator Over Unauthorised Felling of 10 Shade Trees

The Bandung City Government has summoned the management of Padel Six Nine for questioning regarding the alleged felling of 10 trees on Jalan LLRE Martadinata (Riau), which is considered a violation of environmental protection and public order regulations.

Head of the Bandung City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Bambang Sukardi, stated that the management has been scheduled for questioning to continue the investigation process. “We have invited the owner. We hope they will be cooperative and attend to provide an explanation. We conducted an inspection and investigation yesterday, and with these developments, we will certainly continue the process,” Bambang said in Bandung on Monday.

He confirmed that the tree felling on Jalan Riau was carried out without a permit. “Intrinsically, it violates Regional Regulation Number 3 of 2025 concerning Public Order, Peace, and Community Protection,” Bambang stated.

Under the applicable regulations, the perpetrator is required to replace each felled tree with 100 new trees and is subject to a coercive fine of Rp10 million per tree. It is suspected that the trees were cut down to improve the visibility of the padel court’s front area.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan emphasised that the tree felling is a violation of the law and pledged to escalate the matter to the West Java Governor for criminal proceedings, given the potential severity of the legal breach. According to Farhan, the felled trees were old and served an important function as shade trees and as part of the urban ecosystem.
