The Bandung City Government is reviewing the elimination of the entrance fee for Tegallega Park as part of efforts to improve public spaces to make them more comfortable, safe, and accessible for the community. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the current entrance retribution of Rp2,000 is based on a mayoral regulation. “I am currently studying how to make it free. I am reviewing the regulation first so it can later be revoked,” Farhan said in Bandung on Friday. He explained that the desire to provide free access does not mean neglecting the area’s management. Farhan noted that Tegallega Park currently serves multiple functions, requiring a more comprehensive arrangement. The area functions not only as a green open space but also hosts various community activities. “Tegallega now has mixed functions. There is green open space, sports facilities, business premises for the community, and even a waste processing facility. Therefore, we are reorganising everything so it is properly arranged,” Farhan said. He added that the Bandung city government wants to ensure the facilities can be utilised optimally by all levels of society. Farhan hopes the evaluation of the mayoral regulation on Tegallega retribution can be completed soon, so the best decision can be made without disrupting the area’s management. “We want public spaces in Bandung City to truly belong to the community. Comfortable to use, safe, well-organised, and if possible, accessible without burdening the public with entrance fees,” said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan.
