Bandung City Government Prepares Efficiency Measures After Pertamax Price Hike

The Bandung City Government is preparing a number of operational efficiency measures following the increase in the price of non-subsidised Pertamax fuel, which took effect on 10 June 2026. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the fuel price hike is a condition that must be faced together by implementing savings and adjusting energy usage patterns, both within the government and the community. “Operational spending will indeed see some reductions, such as on food, beverages and official travel. The decrease could be quite significant because we must adapt to the current conditions,” Farhan stated in Bandung on Thursday. According to him, the local government does not have the authority to control fuel prices. However, the government can take steps to reduce the impact of the resulting increase in operational costs. “I am considering the possibility that Bandung city government employees will be encouraged not to use private vehicles when commuting to the office,” he said. He considers operational efficiency a crucial step so that the expenditure burden caused by the fuel price hike does not grow even larger. “We indeed have no control over the price. But we can ensure we do not become wasteful consumers. That is what we can jointly control,” he said.
