Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that this decision is an effort to maintain order and cleanliness during the Takbiran night celebrations by limiting street vendors to sell until 10:00 PM WIB. “In accordance with the agreement with the street vendor coordinators, activities must be completed tonight by 10:00 PM WIB,” Farhan said in Bandung on Friday. Farhan explained that this is also intended to avoid crowds that could lead to piles of rubbish around the vending areas during Takbiran night. “Subsequently, cleanup operations will be carried out. This is not to restrict trading spaces, but to minimise waste generation,” he said. Furthermore, he revealed that the volume of waste in Bandung City has increased by up to 20 percent ahead of Lebaran. He explained that the current full appearance of temporary disposal sites (TPS) is part of the ongoing cleaning and waste transportation process. “The target is for the TPS to be empty within the next two days,” he stated. He added that the remaining waste will be temporarily stored at TPS before being transported to the Sarimukti final processing site (TPA) after the delivery queue is reopened on 1 Syawal. “The rest will be temporarily stored at TPS, then transported to TPA Sarimukti after the queue is reopened,” he said.
