Bandung City Government Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Alcohol to Maintain Public Order
The Bandung City Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) is intensifying operations against illegal alcohol (miras) to prevent disturbances to public security and order.
Head of Bandung City Satpol PP, Bambang Sukardi, stated that the operation is a follow-up to numerous public complaints regarding the circulation of alcoholic beverages in residential areas.
“We have been receiving public complaints for several days about the sale of alcoholic beverages. Not only in Leuwipanjang but also in other locations,” Bambang said in Bandung on Friday.
Bambang noted that in the Leuwipanjang area, officers found three kiosks still operating and suspected of selling various types of alcoholic beverages.
“We managed to seize a number of items as evidence and immediately sealed the violating kiosks,” he said.
“We deliberately carried out these impromptu actions as a follow-up to public complaints. Therefore, we urge residents to continue reporting if they find violations of local regulations in their neighbourhood,” he added.
According to him, all findings from the operation will be processed through legal mechanisms, including summary criminal proceedings (tipiring) against those proven to have violated the rules.
Bambang added that the owners of the sealed kiosks will be summoned to the Satpol PP Office for further investigation.
“I appeal to alcohol sellers to stop. Let us support the city government’s programme. Bandung is a religious city, and the community wants to create a conducive environment, especially for the younger generation,” he said.
“We are carrying out this enforcement in stages, because beverages like ‘ciu’ and similar types can cause enormous social impacts within the Bandung City community,” he added.
Data traced by ANTARA indicates that the circulation of illegal alcohol remains a concern for authorities in Bandung City. In June 2026, Satpol PP Bandung seized around 3,000 bottles of illegal alcohol during enforcement operations in several locations.
To date, Bandung City Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2024 concerning the Supervision and Control of Alcoholic Beverages, enacted in December 2024, remains the legal basis for the supervision and control of alcoholic beverages in the city.
