Bandung City Government Deploys 2,266 Sanitation Workers During Eid Holiday
Bandung (ANTARA) - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has deployed 2,266 sanitation workers during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period in 2026 to maintain the city’s cleanliness amid increased public activity. Head of the Bandung City Environmental Agency (DLH) Darto stated that waste management during Eid will follow a special scheme, including a temporary suspension of waste transport to the Sarimukti landfill. “Thousands of these workers are distributed across 263 monitoring points covering markets, main roads, and crowded centres,” Darto said in Bandung on Monday. Although transport is temporarily halted, DLH will continue intensive monitoring at various points to ensure the city remains clean and under control. Of the total personnel deployed, 926 workers will be on duty on H-1, 211 on the day itself, 640 on H+1, and 1,025 on H+2 of Eid. Meanwhile, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan emphasised the importance of active community involvement in waste control during the Eid period. “We have thousands of workers, but it will still not be enough without the residents’ participation. It’s pointless if the public does not help reduce and sort waste from their homes,” he said. He urged residents to separate organic and non-organic waste at the source to make management more efficient. In addition, Pemkot Bandung is conducting direct supervision at several high-risk waste generation points, including market areas like Pasar Kiaracondong. “We support the people’s economy, but it must not disrupt the roads. Order remains the priority,” he added.
