Bandung City Government Demolishes 174 Illegal Buildings Along Jalan Terusan Pasirkoja

The Bandung City Government has initiated the demolition of 174 illegal buildings along Jalan Terusan Pasirkoja, West Java, in a joint operation running from 17 to 19 June 2026. Head of the Bandung City Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Bambang Sukardi, stated the enforcement action is intended to restore the function of the road right-of-way (Rumija) and to organise the area to be more orderly and safe. “The operation to demolish illegal buildings on Jalan Terusan Pasirkoja is being carried out over three days. The target is approximately 174 illegal structures,” Bambang said in Bandung on Wednesday. He explained the demolition is focused on the left side of Jalan Terusan Pasirkoja, specifically in the area of the Pasirkoja Toll Gate exit. At least 250 personnel were deployed in the operation, drawn from the West Java Satpol PP, Bandung City Satpol PP, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the West Java Provincial Highways Agency, and local district elements. In addition to the joint personnel, officers deployed two heavy-duty excavators to expedite the dismantling process. He noted that on the first day, officers successfully demolished around 70 illegal buildings along the left side of the road. “The demolition process is being carried out in stages with security provided by all involved elements,” he said. He added that the enforcement activity proceeded smoothly and safely thanks to good coordination among all participating agencies. “The first day of the operation went smoothly, safely, and was conducive. All involved elements worked well together so that the demolition process could be carried out according to plan,” he said. Bambang stated the joint operation will continue until all targeted buildings have been demolished. “After the enforcement is complete, it is hoped that the Jalan Terusan Pasirkoja area will function optimally again as a public road right-of-way and support the smooth flow of community activities,” he said.
