Bandung city government: 10 flights at Husein Airport during long holiday
The Bandung City Government recorded that 10 flights were scheduled at Husein Sastranegara International Airport in Bandung during the long holiday coinciding with the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan welcomed the increase in flight activity at the airport by six airlines.
“Alhamdulillah, today there are 10 flights. I got goosebumps earlier when I heard the song Indonesia Raya, and suddenly there was a plane doing a flypast, it was very cool,” said Farhan in Bandung on Monday.
Farhan said the increase in activity would serve as evaluation material for the Bandung City Government to assess the sustainability of regular flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport over the next two months.
The evaluation, he said, would not only relate to the number and continuity of flights, but would also cover aspects of Bandung city branding as well as the readiness of supporting facilities and infrastructure around the airport area.
“We will see after the next two months whether our regular flights can still operate or not. While we look at the evaluation of Bandung city branding, we will also evaluate all supporting infrastructure facilities around the airport,” he said.
According to him, the reactivation of Husein Airport is an important momentum for the city of Bandung, so it needs to be followed by improving the quality of the environment and the face of the city, especially on routes that serve as the main access to the city centre.
Farhan hopes that the presence of these routes will be the beginning of increased flight connectivity from Bandung to various regions in Indonesia and abroad.
“We look forward to the opening of other regular flight schedules from various airlines, both for domestic and international routes,” he said.
