Bandung City Council Pushes for Strengthening Governance and Public Services
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG — The Bandung City Council (DPRD) conveyed recommendations regarding the Mayor of Bandung’s Accountability Report (LKPJ) for the 2025 Fiscal Year during a plenary session held at the DPRD Building in Bandung on Monday (11/5/2026). These recommendations form part of the evaluation of the implementation of development, governance, and public services throughout 2025.
The plenary session was attended by Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan, the leadership and members of the Bandung City Council, Bandung City Regional Secretary Iskandar Zulkarnain, heads of regional agencies, and other invited guests. The session was also conducted in a hybrid format via teleconference and Zoom Meeting.
The session chair, Edwin Senjaya, stated that the DPRD’s recommendations are part of the constitutional mechanism in local government administration as regulated by laws and regulations. According to him, these recommendations serve as a basis for joint evaluation to enhance the effectiveness of regional development.
The Chairman of the Bandung City Council, Asep Mulyadi, said that the discussion of the LKPJ was conducted with principles of partnership, objectivity, transparency, and professionalism. He emphasised that the DPRD’s recommendations are expected to strengthen governance and improve the quality of public services to the community.
“Strategic notes and DPRD recommendations are part of joint efforts to ensure that Bandung’s development runs more effectively, accountably, and provides broad benefits to the community,” Asep stated.
In its discussion, the Bandung City Council provided several inputs regarding strengthening the quality of regional spending, improving public services, developing the investment climate, optimising regional assets, and reinforcing bureaucratic reforms. The DPRD also urged that development programmes be directed towards enhancing community welfare as well as inclusive and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan welcomed the various recommendations presented by the DPRD. He affirmed that all inputs will be a concern for the Bandung City Government in refining policies and implementing future development programmes.
Farhan stated that the Bandung City Government is committed to increasing development effectiveness, strengthening the quality of public services, maintaining regional fiscal stability, and delivering adaptive, transparent, and responsive governance that meets community needs.
The plenary session also serves as an affirmation of the synergy between the executive and legislative branches in realising Bandung’s development oriented towards public services, improving residents’ quality of life, and strengthening regional competitiveness.
