Bandung Boasts World-Class Padel Arena
Padel enthusiasts in Bandung have been treated to the arrival of a world-standard padel arena. The Dago Padel Club, which features court quality meeting European standards, is claimed to be the first of its kind in Indonesia.
Located on Jalan Ir. H. Juanda, Dago, Bandung, the sports facility has immediately caught the attention of prominent entrepreneur and koi fish enthusiast, Hartono Soekwanto. Known as ‘Bos Koi’, he expressed his pride that his city now possesses the highest quality padel courts in the country.
To demonstrate the international standard, Soekwanto brought two professional padel players from Argentina, Maxi Sanchez Blasco and Tiago Vallejos, to personally test the playing area. “This is what Bos Koi experienced; seeing how these world-class players handle the spin of the ball. We were able to feel what they feel,” said Hartono on Saturday.
He commended the management of Dago Padel Club for their courage in introducing European-standard courts to Bandung. The facility boasts several advantages, ranging from floor quality and glass walls to a roof height of 16 metres to ensure extra player comfort.
Dago Padel Club is the first in Indonesia to adopt Alba-branded courts, the official supplier for the prestigious Premier Padel Tour in Europe. Furthermore, it is the first in the country to utilise the highest grade of carpeting, Mondo X3, which features a three-thread structure for maximum foot protection and enhanced ball spin.
The arena provides eight European-standard courts, consisting of two ‘Major Set’ type courts and six ‘Alba’ type courts. Using experienced European constructors, the surface level is highly precise with no dead spots, making it exceptionally safe for players aged 40 and above by minimising the risk of tripping and muscle injuries.
“The investment involved is quite fantastic. While standard court construction typically costs around Rp300 million, Dago Padel Club has invested more than Rp1 billion per unit. In total, the management has invested an amount exceeding Rp8 billion to realise these eight courts, which are the first and only ones in Indonesia to meet the World Premier Tour Europe standard.
