Bandung Becomes Meeting Point for West Java-Selangor Investment Collaboration
The West Java Provincial Government has agreed to establish trade and investment cooperation with the Malaysian state of Selangor, commencing with a conference at the Pullman Hotel in Bandung from Thursday to Friday, 9-10 July 2026. “This conference aims to encourage industrial investment and foster long-term partnerships between two economic powers, namely Selangor and West Java,” said Dedi Taufik, Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office, on Sunday, 5 July 2026. On the first day, the conference was opened with remarks from West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi and Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan. This was followed by a presentation from a West Java representative regarding the province’s infrastructure plans, while a Selangor representative presented on industrial developments in the state. The conference also featured panel discussions exploring potential cooperation in supply chains, business, and finance between Indonesia and Malaysia. On the second day, the Selangor delegation planned field visits to several industrial centres in West Java to explore collaboration in aerospace, railways, the creative industry, energy, property, and technology. The conference also provided an opportunity for Malaysian and Indonesian institutions to cooperate, for example between Universiti Selangor and Institut Teknologi Bandung, Tourism Selangor and Batik Air, Tourism Selangor and the Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies (Asita), as well as Wanita Berdaya Selangor and Bappenas. Dedi stated that the cooperation involves the West Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Jabar) and Invest Selangor Berhad, the investment agency of Selangor. The conference also featured 30 booths from Selangor health and education institutions, including Ampang Putri Specialist Hospital, MSU Medical Centre, Kajang Plaza Medical Centre, Universiti Selangor, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, and Universiti Islam Selangor. Dedi added that beyond the Bandung conference, the cooperation will be followed up at the Selangor International Business Summit 2026 on 14-17 October 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in Malaysia.
