Bandung Barat Regency Accelerates Tourism Development in Western and Southern Areas
Bandung Barat Regency is striving to develop tourism potential in the western and southern areas of the regency in West Java. This initiative aims to prevent tourism business from being overly concentrated in the northern region, which has long been a favourite destination for tourists.
The northern tourist areas include Cisarua, Parongpong, and Lembang. These areas have developed a mix of man-made attractions alongside natural scenery, with a thriving variety of cuisine and accommodation options making them increasingly popular among visitors.
‘In line with Regent Jeje’s programme, tourism development is not only focused in the northern area but also in the southern region,’ said Bandung Barat Regency Tourism and Culture Office Head Asep Dendih when confirmed on Saturday (30 May 2026).
According to Asep, the southern region has promising natural tourism potential, such as Curug Malela in Rongga, which resembles Niagara Falls on the US-Canada border. Additionally, there is floating cuisine tourism at Saguling Reservoir in Cihampelas-Cililin.
The western region also holds natural tourism potential, including Stone Garden and Indiana Camp in the Kars Citatah area, as well as fruit-picking attractions in Cipatat. The office will enhance the western and southern areas to make them more appealing.
