Bandung Art Academy upgraded

BANDUNG, West Java: Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman
Djojonegoro here on Saturday inaugurated the upgrading of the
Indonesian Dance Academy (ASTI) into the School of Indonesian
Arts (STSI).

The new status now allows the school to award full fledged
graduate degrees.

"In fact, based on the government's ruling No. 30/1990, if it
fulfills all the requirements, STSI can open a graduate and
doctorate program," Wardiman said.

Established in 1970, the school offers students three major
study subjects -- dance, theater and the traditional Sundanese
art of Karawitan. (pet/mds)
