Bandarlampung Issues Over 51,000 Business Identification Numbers in Four Years
BANDARLAMPUNG – Business growth in Bandarlampung has shown a positive and significant trend over the past four years. Since the implementation of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system on 4 August 2021 through to 7 July 2025, the Bandarlampung Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) has issued 51,630 Business Identification Numbers (NIB).
DPMPTSP Bandarlampung head Muhtadi Arsyad Temenggung stated that this figure reflects strong economic vitality and growing entrepreneurial spirit among the public.
Of the total, 51,613 NIBs originated from domestic investors (PMDN), whilst only 17 came from foreign investors (PMA). This demonstrates the dominance of local business operators in driving regional economic growth.
Furthermore, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) were the largest contributors with 51,267 NIBs, far surpassing large-scale or non-MSME businesses which recorded only 363 NIBs.
A single NIB can encompass more than one business activity, depending on scale and type. This means the total number of KBLI (Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification) codes issued reached 117,942 — more than double the number of NIBs.
Muhtadi explained that the OSS system classifies businesses based on risk level, from low to high. The breakdown is as follows: Low Risk: 7,891 NIBs (66.4 per cent); Medium-Low Risk: 12,499 NIBs; Medium-High Risk: 20,299 NIBs (17.2 per cent); and High Risk: 6,853 NIBs (5.8 per cent).
"The majority of business operators in Bandar Lampung start with low-risk enterprises, which tend to be easier in terms of licensing and capital requirements," said Muhtadi.
Geographically, the Sukarame sub-district recorded the highest number of NIBs at 10,780, making it the area with the most dynamic economic activity. It was followed by Tanjung Senang with 8,130 NIBs, Way Halim with 8,078 NIBs, Rajabasa with 8,020 NIBs, and Kemiling with 945 NIBs.
The risk-based OSS system has simplified the licensing process, particularly for MSME operators. This has been considered highly beneficial in expanding market access, obtaining financing, and participating in government procurement of goods and services.
Previously, DPMPTSP Bandarlampung had issued 44,337 NIBs during the period from 4 August 2021 to 15 October 2024. Muhtadi noted that NIBs issued can be viewed on the OSS application, with data updated in real time. Domestic investment accounted for 44,324 NIBs and foreign investment for 13 NIBs during that earlier period, with 44,926 NIBs for MSMEs and 411 for non-MSMEs.
