Bandar Lampung City Government Distributes Aid to Flood-Affected Residents
Bandar Lampung (ANTARA) - The Bandar Lampung City Government distributed aid in the form of 10 kilograms of rice and Rp500,000 in cash to each head of family affected by the flood on Tuesday (14/4). “The aid provided by the government will be distributed evenly to all flood-affected areas,” said Bandar Lampung Deputy Mayor Eva Dwiana in Bandar Lampung on Wednesday. She also urged her subordinates to ensure that the government aid is targeted precisely at residents who are genuinely affected by the flood. “Every affected sub-district will receive aid. We must stand together with the community; we cannot let residents face difficulties,” she said. “Even though the authority for major waterways and national roads lies with the central government, since it is in Bandar Lampung, we do not want the community to suffer. The task force immediately came down to assist the residents,” she added. On the other hand, the Mayor of Bandar Lampung offered residents living in densely populated and flood-prone areas to move to existing simple rental apartments (rusunawa). “For a long-term solution, residents living in dense and flood-prone areas, especially those along riverbanks, can move to simple rental apartments (rusunawa), if they are willing,” she said. “The most severely affected areas include Way Halim, Kedaton, Kedamaian, and Tanjung Karang Pusat sub-districts,” she stated. She added that the flooding in several points in Bandar Lampung City on Tuesday (14/4) was caused by high rainfall in recent days. “Regarding yesterday’s incident, the report we received indicated one resident died. However, there were no reports of injured residents,” she said. Based on data from the Lampung BPBD, the flood disaster that occurred on Tuesday (14/4) in Bandar Lampung City affected at least 16 sub-districts, namely Kemiling, Sukarame, Tanjung Karang Barat, Panjang, Tanjung Karang Timur, Teluk Betung Selatan, Teluk Betung Utara, Rajabasa, Tanjung Senang, Sukabumi, Labuhan Ratu, Way Halim, Langkapura, Enggal, Kedamaian, and Bumi Waras.
