Bandar Cimanuk Museum Preserves Centuries-Old Islamic Manuscripts
The Bandar Cimanuk Museum in Indramayu, West Java, has successfully assembled dozens of ancient manuscripts, including rare Qur’anic texts, works on Islamic mysticism (tasawuf), Islamic theology (tauhid), Islamic law, astronomy (falak), and medical treatises dating from the late 16th century through the 19th century. These artefacts have become valuable research materials for advancing knowledge and understanding the historical spread of Islam in West Java. Cultural custodian Nang Sadewo has been instrumental in preserving and cataloguing the museum’s Islamic manuscript collection.
