The Aceh Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) has seized several items that could potentially disrupt security and order during a raid on inmate cells at the Banda Aceh Class IIA Prison.

Edi Mulyono, Head of Internal Compliance at the Aceh Regional Office of Ditjenpas, stated in Banda Aceh on Monday that officers did not find any narcotics or mobile phones during the raid. However, officials discovered five water heaters, two spoons, a knife, electrical plugs, curtains, a fan, bed partitions, insect nets, and glass perfume bottles.

“Furthermore, these items have been seized for destruction. We are committed to continuously increasing supervision to ensure that facilities within the residential blocks and the prison environment are used in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.

Edi noted that the raid is an implementation of leadership directives to ensure that inmate residential blocks remain safe, orderly, and free from the circulation of prohibited goods. He described the raid as a step towards order and early detection to maintain a conducive environment at the Banda Aceh Class IIA Prison.

In addition to raiding the residential cells, the Aceh Ditjenpas regional team conducted unannounced inspections of the official residences at the Banda Aceh Class IIA Prison to ensure that the use of state-owned assets (BMN) complies with regulations. According to Edi, the inspection follows a letter from the Directorate General of Corrections regarding the supervision and regulation of goods and residential facilities.

“This inspection aims to check the official residences, which are state-owned assets, to ensure they follow procedures and that there are no unauthorised additions,” he said.

Based on the inspection results, the official residences of the Banda Aceh Prison staff are in good and intact condition, consistent with previous reports. The team also found no unauthorised building extensions.

Edi reminded all personnel to maintain discipline and professionalism in the use of state facilities. “The inspection of official residences is a form of our shared commitment to implementing the directives provided. I hope all staff can cooperate and support one another so that this activity can proceed effectively,” he added.

The Aceh Ditjenpas team also inspected the kitchen of the Banda Aceh Prison to ensure that state-owned assets within the facility are being used for their intended purposes.
