Banda Aceh Police Chief Andi Kirana Investigated by Internal Affairs, Now Transferred to Police Headquarters
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has rotated a number of police officers. One of those moved is Police Commissioner Andi Kirana from his position as Chief of the Banda Aceh City Police.
In the latest transfer, Andi Kirana has been assigned as a middle-ranking officer at Police Headquarters’ General Services Division. The change of position is recorded in National Police Chief Telegram Number ST/1878/VIII/KEP./2026, issued on 30 August 2026.
The transfer comes after Andi Kirana previously underwent an investigation by the Police Internal Affairs Division. In addition to him, the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit at Banda Aceh Police, Assistant Police Commissioner Muhammad Jabir, was also brought to Jakarta for questioning.
To date, the National Police have not disclosed the matter that formed the basis of the investigation into the two personnel.
The position of Banda Aceh Police Chief left by Andi Kirana will be filled by Police Commissioner Teguh Priambodo Nugroho. Previously, Teguh served as Head of the ICT Division at Aceh Regional Police.
Teguh had also been appointed by Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Ruddi Setiawan as acting Banda Aceh Police Chief while the investigation into Andi Kirana by Police Internal Affairs was ongoing.
Not only the police chief position, the post of Deputy Chief of Banda Aceh Police has also changed. Assistant Police Commissioner Benny Bathara, who previously served as Nagan Raya Police Chief, has been assigned to fill the position.
Previously, Police Headquarters had not disclosed the matter that led Andi Kirana and Assistant Police Commissioner Muhammad Jabir to undergo an internal affairs investigation.
Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, said the police would provide information about the matter when the handling process reached the appropriate time.
“The National Police will provide an explanation to the public at the appropriate time in accordance with the development of the ongoing process and applicable regulations. We urge the public to wait for official information from the National Police and not to speculate on unverified information,” Isir said in his statement on Friday, 7 August 2026.
Isir stressed that the investigation of personnel is part of the National Police’s internal oversight mechanism. He assured that the process is carried out while upholding the presumption of innocence.
“Every process carried out by the National Police against personnel is part of the oversight and rule-enforcement mechanism within the internal environment. The entire process is carried out professionally, objectively, and in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.
