Banda Aceh Inspectorate Head Arrested with Same-Sex Partner in Office

The Head of the Banda Aceh City Inspectorate, FD (52), was arrested together with a same-sex partner in his office. FD has been named a suspect.

FD and his partner, identified by the initials AM (22), were arrested at the Inspectorate Office on Wednesday, 12 August, in the afternoon. The arrest was made after Sharia police received a complaint that an unknown man had entered the office after working hours had ended.

After receiving the report, a squad of Sharia police was deployed to the location. Both individuals were found in FD’s office.

“Based on initial statements, both are suspected of having committed a violation of Qanun Number 12 of 2025 concerning Amendments to Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 on Islamic Criminal Law,” said the Head of the Banda Aceh Civil Service Police Unit and Wilayatul Hisbah (WH/Sharia Police), M Rizal, to reporters, as reported by detikSumut on Tuesday (18/8/2026).

Both were taken to the Banda Aceh Satpol PP-WH Office to undergo examination. Based on initial evidence, both were deemed to have sufficient evidence to be named as suspects.

“FD and AM will be detained for the next 20 days to undergo further investigation in accordance with applicable regulations,” he explained.
